Hello, and welcome to my site. It is my intent for this blog to be a repository of information, thoughts, ideas on all things paleo. Let me also add that I claim no expertise in any area, only first hand knowledge. I’m not the expert. I’ve only recently moved to the paleo diet (12 months now) and rely on other, better informed (i.e. more letters after their name) sources for the information that I post here. Bottom line we all have opinions, some based in fact, some not. If you are undecided about this way of eating versus the way you eat today, to me the way is clear. Get your blood work done (for the baseline) and then take the 30 day challenge (that is eat paleo for 30 days) and then get your blood work redone an compare the two tests. These tests, coupled with how you feel, how your body has responded should be enough to tell you if this way of eating is for you or not.
Betty, one of my Mulefoot sows, farrowed 5 piglets the morning of 16 March, 2012. This is her second farrowing – she’ll be two years old herself this coming May. Her first farrowing didn’t go well as she ended up laying on all 5 piglets from that litter. We don’t use sow crates here on the farm – we try to provide as natural of a birthing environment as we can for the girls. A Mulefoot will average about 6 piglets per litter. Betty is a little smaller then an ideal sow but because of the rarity of the breed we’ve kept her around to help provide animals that we plan on harvesting. Mulefoot pork, the best tasting pork out there!

Okay, here’s a link describing this Genetically Engineered animal!

Can anyone say “FrankenPig”?? Why do we need a pig that can digest grain better, thereby reducing the chemical waste that comes out the other end?? Can’t we just raise them out on pasture – like they are designed to be?? I do!
Here are pictures of me about 12 months ago. Body-weight at 290ish!
I’ve attached the recent photos of myself. Will have to work on the tan next year!!
This is me at 260. I had dropped down to 245 at my lowest. Still not back in the gym training as I’d like. Shoulders, knees an lower back issues – all a result of my time powerlifting. My goal is to maintain a body weight of 260-265 but much leaner. Should be fairly easy to do following the paleo diet and lifting. There is a lot of chatter out there about gaining weight on the paleo diet – which I feel is a non-starter. As long as you put some training emphasis on at the very least performing a series of body weight exercises, ideally an actual weight training regiment, this resistance training will result in a larger, more dense muscle tissue. Couple this with the fact that the more muscle tissue equates to more fat burning furnaces. 12 weeks time (90 days) is enough time to transform your body simply by adapting a work-out routine that you are consistent with. Add the paleo diet to this mix an watch-out!! 90 days and it’s a new (healthier both inside as well as outside) YOU!!
This has nothing to do with Paleo, nothing to do with diet. It has to do with returning the US of A back to the top of the pile as it were. Depending on who you listen to our economy is either heading down or going even further down. Our elected officials have had 5 years now to deal with all the issues that stem from all the recently burst bubbles but really, what have they accomplished?? Pushed our great country to the brink of default – which only lowered the stock markets, pushed more Americans into or closer to the brink of foreclosure – all in who’s interest? Certainly not mine and odds are not yours either.
Soon the President and the Republicans and all the other pundits will put forth their “jobs” ideas. I’d like to preempt them by passing this information on to you, the concerned public.

Now here are some real leaders that this country so sorely needs!!
So contact your “leaders” in D.C. and tell them to get off their collective backsides and get this country moving forward – NOW!! Election time is coming – do we really need a group of 535 men an women serving more then 2 terms in office?? I don’t think so but this is a great topic for another post!!
Jack Brink’s book “Head-Smashed-In: Aboriginal Buffalo Hunting on the Northern Plains” is a great read! Learn how native Americans devised and carried out hunts of these large plain animals in order to feed 100′s if not 1,000′s of people!
This morning as I was out trailblazing on the web I stumbled across a site of great interest. www.gnolls.org contains a wealth of great information on all things paleo!! I will be adding it to my suggested sites (I think I just did in a sense) as soon as I learn more about WordPress!!
On the site J. Stanton has a link to an article regarding the “Birth of War” – it’s of special interest to me as I’ve been researching the various changes to our world since we moved away from the hunter/gatherer life style to the agrarian one. If you’d like to gain a better understanding as to the ‘birth of war’, give it a read!
I started this site as a way to get the message about the paleo diet out to the masses. The paleo movement is growing by leaps an bounds and this is my way of trying to help those interested in leading a healthy life. Read more...
